Dwadasha Stotra

Dwadasha Stotra 1 : SriSthuthi Verse 2

Brahmesha shakra ravi dharma shashaanka
poorvageervaanasanthathiriyam yadapaangalesham
Ashrithya vishvavijayam visrujathyachinthyaa
Shreeryath katakshabalavathyajitham namaami

This verse throws light on prapancha niyantrana by Brahma, Rudra, Indra, Surya, Yama, Chandra and other gods.

Gods in same kakshe(purusha devathagaLu) – Brahma ; Vaayu, Shiva ; Garuda ; Shesha,  Indra ; Kama, (Shakra = Indra)

Gods in same kakshe(stri devathagaLu) – Saraswathi ; Bharathi, Suparni ; Varuni ; Parvathi ,shachi ; rathi,

Ravi, Dharma, Chandra are also called as KaAlaPurusharu as they push us towards death

Santatih – Parampara.

Vijaya – being close to god. MahaBharata is called “Jaya” because it brings us near to god.

Achintyasrihi – It is not possible to fathom and understand the infinite auspicious qualities of Lakshmi , yet they are countable and as not infinite as Vishnu. Achintya – Cannot fathom the riddles of prakruthi

According to Rig Veda Lakshmi says” Ahamsuve pithram asya murdhan” which means “I gave birth to the creator of world i.e. brahma and used him to create the jeevas.” (There are several different forms of birth to devates like Brahma etc. Once he was born from the navel of Padmanabha, once by the union of Nrayana and Lakshmi in the form of VasuDeva and Maya- More details in MahaBharataTatparyaNirnaya)

Mam yonih apswanta samagre – Lakshmi says yet my creator is in ksheerasagara. ( Narayana)

Sumedha – one who knows God, one who has God consciousness

rshi – rsha jnanane– one who knows more about God than an ordinary man

Brahma, Rudra, Indra, Surya, Yama, Chandra and other gods who have the capability to produce correct Jnana by their speech and who cause in many ways the welfare of the world themselves depend on the side long glance of the eyes of Goddess Lakshmi.  Such great capacity in her which is beyond thought is itself due to the kind look of Ajitha, the Supreme Being. I offer my prostrations to Him.
